Though not nearly as common today as years past, there was a time when all fork steerers were threaded. We'll admit that we do have a soft spot in our heart for the look of a quill stem and, in our minds, the Cinelli Grammo Ti version is one of the most iconic and gorgeous stems to ever grace the front end of a bicycle. If you have a vintage bike and you are looking to put a different fork on it or the threads are rough enough that it isn't easy to adjust the headset, Park Tool offers the FTS-1 Fork Threading Set. It's designed for cutting new threads or chasing existing threads on steerer tubes. The only caveat is that the fork isn't chromed, as the cutting tool will cause the chrome to flake. The FTS-1 comes with a 1-inch adjustable cutting die made from high-quality steel for precision cutting and a long life.
